Saw this posted somewhere in Quiapo, Manila.

So these are the new hairstyles now huh?

Taken in a local barbershop in Manila as kids get their haircut for the opening of schools the following day.
Was scheduled to watch the yearly Lantern Parade in UP Diliman yesterday but was informed by the boss that I have to cover an event down south.
Had a different “party” last night and saw this number…

dionisia01

dionisia02
A surprise dance number from Aling Dionisia, Manny Pacquiao’s mother during the celebration of his 30th birthday at the KCC Mall in General Santos City.
I think she’s almost 60 years old.
Rock on!
Went to cover this year’s Sto. Nino Festival in Tondo, Manila today.

Here are women devotees carrying an image of the Holy Child while dancing in front of the church. They said that after praying and asking for something from above, you need to dance in order for your wish to come true. I don’t know with you but what is the relationship of dancing and getting your wish? Maybe it would have been better if you do good unto others and then your reward will follow. Or just be a good person without asking for something in return. God has His own ways. Also sometimes you need not rely on prayers alone. You need to move your big fat @$$ in order for something to happen.

It’s a fun and colorful event but I guess sometimes we need to think properly or at least logically. People, specially in this country most often than not rely everything to God. Bahala na! The phrase came from Bathala na! Leave everything to Him. But I still believe Nasa Dios ang awa… nasa tao ang gawa.

And what about this woman with an image of the Holy Child wearing a mask of a popular cartoon character? Cute? I don’t think so. At least if you subscribe to the idea that these images are sacred to. Oh well to each his own.
