Joan Bondoc

JoanĀ Bondoc

Joan Bondoc pauses while editing her photos inside her house in Quezon City, 23 July 2007.

Today we feature photojournalists whom I work with everyday. These are the people I hustle with just to get the perfect photo. The perfect timing. The moment hehehe.

Meet Joan Bondoc. I don’t know how long has she been a photojournalist but she is one of the colleagues whom I give much respect to. She is also the first woman photojournalist that I was able to meet. She started her career during UP days as a staff photographer of the Philippine Collegian.

Even before I became a photojournalist, I was used to seeing her name in the papers. I was once privileged to cover an event in Ayala long time ago with her. I was only a student back then. There I saw how dedicated she is with what she does.

It was a rally and former president Cory Aquino just arrived. Her security escort was pushing and shoving the photographers so that no one can get close to Cory. But Joan pushed and shoved also until she had the photo that she wanted.

Joan’s beat today is in Quezon City so everything that happens there is her responsibility. From Congress to the daily toils of the police beat.

Aside from being a photojournalist, Joan is also a mother, a wife, and a good friend to many of us.

  1. Hi Rem, I have been wanting to get in touch with Ma’am Joan because I need to get some files back to her that were used in an art documentary. I’ve tried emailing her and calling her on her cellphone, but she’s not replying through email and her phone is not ringing. This is the cellphone number that is not working 09167179563. Do you know any other way to contact her, so I can give her back her files? Sorry if I have to use your site for my own interest.
